Head Start Legal Advisory Service
The National Head Start Association (NHSA), in conjunction
with the law firm of Feldesman, Tucker, Leifer, Fidell & Bank LLP, has established
the Head
Start Legal Advisory Service. This
service allows Head Start programs to obtain information from experienced Head Start
attorneys.
Head
Start programs are in clear need of technical assistance in the areas of high risk
designations, quality improvement plans, and other compliance issues, as well as
proposed defunding actions. Head Start grantees are literally bombarded on a daily
basis with a myriad of other legal matters covering such subjects as unionization,
the ADA, the IDEA, EEOC, and OSHA, not to mention the specific Head Start and grant
administration requirements.
With
the combined experience of NHSA and Feldesman, Tucker, programs can receive timely
information in a cost-effective manner. By enrolling in the Head Start Legal Advisory
Service, you will receive the following valuable services:
- Four issues a year of the Head Start Legal
Advisor
- Two hotline calls per year up to one half
hour each to a Feldesman, Tucker attorney without worrying about charges for attorney
time - the calls are free.
- Special news flashes by e-mail on an as
needed basis on significant legal developments in Head Start that cannot wait for
the next issue of the Advisor.
- An annual Head Start legal seminar, which
subscribers can attend at reduced rates. Feldesman, Tucker will also conduct specialized
seminars for your programs upon request, again at reduced rates.
- Discounted rates for any specialized legal
services.
The cost of the Head Start Legal Advisory Service,
if you register before November 30, 2000 is $495 per year for NHSA members and $595
per year for non-members. After that, the subscription fee will increase $100.
