Illinois Head Start Association Election Application

Thank you for your interest in serving as a member on the Board of the Illinois Head Start Association.   Serving on the board or within your respective component is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for personal and professional growth.  Completing this form will help you understand the skills, time and resource commitments of these leadership positions.

You may find it helpful to read through the entire application before you begin filling it out.  Please return the completed application to Lauri Morrison-Frichtl at lfrichtl@ilheadstart.org by close of business on March 7, 2024.
 
This application will be used to create a slate of candidates to be shared with each Component - Director, Parent, Staff and Friend, during Component Meetings.  Members of each Component will use the slate provided to inform their selection decision.
 
Elections will be held during Component Meetings on March 12th, 2024 at 11:30am at the Wyndham Hotel in Springfield in conjunction with the IHSA Annual Conference.   Anyone who wants to be considered must complete this application and submit by close of business on March 7, 2024.
 
Candidates will also have the opportunity to introduce themselves during the Component Meeting.  You do not have to present during the Component Meeting to run for a position but it is strongly encouraged.

 
BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Serves a minimum of one (1) two-year term on the Board. Eligible to serve three (3) two-year terms if re-elected.
  2. Attends bi-monthly board meetings (6 times/year), committee meetings and at least two IHSA events). The Full Board of Directors meets every other month from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  3. Makes a serious commitment to participate actively in IHSA committee work. IHSA is a working board where each director is involved in a committee.
  4. Stays informed about committee matters, is prepared for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
  5. Builds a collegial working relationship with other committee members that contributes to consensus.
  6. Participates in the board's annual planning efforts.
  7. Participates in the advancement of the strategic plan of the IHSA including advocacy and awareness efforts, fundraising (including the $2 Per Child Campaign), and member recruitment.
